Everyone Grows Old

Day eight of NaPoWriMo. Today’s prompt is to rewrite a famous poem. I looked around for a while before I found Chinese poet Lu Yu’s poem about aging titled ‘Written in a carefree mood’. I wrote this in a lethargic mood though.

Crossing the age of thirty,
Acting no different than a kid.
Looking skywards with dreamy eyes.
Delighted even at the hint of humor.
While others were feeling proud of buying flats.
He was immersed in soul searching,
In his hand was a tennis ball,
Bouncing it off the wall as he used to.
