Not like us

Day eight of NaPoWriMo. The prompt for today is repetition. I spent some time thinking about a theme. Then I went on to the facebook page and found the prompt there (Current Events). Today I thought I could combine both prompts into one poem. Sadly the domestic state of affairs and the international political climate too seem to be in sync.

They have never liked us,
Though they’ll never admit.
They plot to harm and hurt,
Because they’re not like us.

We may treat them kindly,
Out of our good nature,
Don’t expect gratitude,
Because they’re not like us.

They hate our traditions,
They will not sing our songs.
They feel they are better,
Because they’re not like us.

They have harmed us before,
They will not mend their ways.
We have to stay aware,
Because they’re not like us.

They disrespect our state,
They want to burn our flag,
They don’t deserve to stay,
Because they’re not like us.

They’re laughing at our god,
They say their god’s better.
We’ll send them out of here,
Because they’re not like us.

You look around yourself,
They are now,everywhere.
They’ll seize power from us,
Because they’re not like us.

They don’t like our culture,
Won’t live in harmony.
They’ll force their thoughts on us,
Because they’re not like us.

They cry about their rights,
What right do they not have?
They’re stepping on our toes,
Because they’re not like us.

They’ll marry our daughters,
By corrupting their thoughts,
Let’s protect our families,
Because they’re not like us.

They’re not like us at all.
They look different from us,
They dress a different way,
Because they’re not like us.
