Work or Play

Day eleven of NaPoWriMo. Today’s prompt is to write a Bop. A Bop is a combination of a Sonnet and song. I did not intend it to be this preachy.

Work or Play

We live half of our lives in cubicles,
Dreaming of rare vacations and weekends.
We hope for a better life in future,
We work harder at the cost of leisure.
Our monthly salary is our safety net,
Losing that, your life spins out of control.

All work and no play, doesn’t really pay.

In the initial part of our career,
We’re busy paying off, our educational loans.
Or you enjoy financial independence.
The remaining years, some of us get trapped,
In housing loans, car loans, and personal loans.
It keeps us committed to our day job,
The rising costs add to the motivation.
Material comforts bring you some solace.

All work and no play, doesn’t really pay.

Please stay far away from all kinds of loans,
Use your credit card for emergencies.
Find and build multiple streams of revenue,
Learn about things that you’re passionate about.
Build a career that does not overwhelm.
Take time to do things that you truly love.

All work and no play, doesn’t really pay.
