Kerala

Day twenty eight of NaPoWriMo. Today’s prompt is to write a poem in the form of a postcard that describes a place.

It’s a land of beaches and coconut palms,

And mountains too, away from the sea shore.

The summer lasts for around nine months here.

Monsoon showers bring the only respite.

The seafood here has to be experienced,

People like hot tea, despite the climate,

There’s a strange obsession with newspapers.

There’s a lot of political discussions,

Another obsession must be alcohol,

There are long lines in front of liquor stores.

There’s not much to do, it’s a sleepy place,

Sip your drink, put up your legs, take a nap.
